What is a Forum?
An Internet Forum is a discussion area on a website. Website members can post discussions and read and respond to posts by other forum members. An Internet forum can be focused on nearly any subject and a sense of an online community, or virtual community, tends to develop among forum members.
An Internet Forum is also called a message board, discussion group, bulletin board or web forum. An Internet forum usually allows all members to make posts and start new topics.
An Internet Forum is also different from a chat room. Members in a chat room usually all chat or communicate at the same time, while members in an Internet forum post messages to be read by others whenever they happen to log on. Internet forums also tend to be more topic-focused than chat rooms.
How do I join the Forum?
All registered members are eligible to use the Forum.
We recommend that all new members go to the Forum and submit an entry in the Introductions category, just to be polite and friendly. You will receive a warm welcome.
How do I use the Forum?
* When you get to the FORUM click on the categories button to check out all of the current topics.
* When you read anything that you'd like to post a message on click on NEW THREAD
You will see your posting form which is easy to follow, don't forget to use the emoticons, and even add images if you wish, it's all available in the form.
* There is a button on the Forum to return your Profile when you've finished with the Forum.
If you feel that the topic you wish to post does not fit any current Category, post it in General Chat, if admin sees that a topic in there is receiving a lot of posts we'll convert it to a new Category, so that members spot it easier.
Some additional advice and general etiquette when using FORUMS:
* Browse a little before you dive right in. Read a number of posts. Get a feel for the tone of the forum so you can participate accordingly.
* Remember your face doesn't show. Words alone can convey sentiment, but without benefit of inflection or facial expression, they can be misconstrued. Use descriptive wording, add photos or emoticons (smileys) to ensure your meaning is clear.
* Be respectful. Internet etiquette is similar to standard etiquette in this area. Appreciate that your opinion is one of many. You can disagree with another person without being disrespectful or rude online.
* Never post private information about yourself or someone else, such as an address or phone number. Whether or not the person is a member of the same forum, it is never acceptable or safe to post private information.
* Don’t post in all capital letters. Typing in capital letters is also considered yelling, so someone else reading it will think that you are screaming or angry.
* To have personal conversations with someone use PMS.
* Please reply to someone’s thread with something worthwhile. There are many times on forums you’ll see someone reply with “I agree!” or “Wow!” and that’s it.
Above all - have fun and enjoy the Forum, it's a great way to make friends!
