About the subjects and themes I enjoy in my artwork.......
Female Beauty...a theme that has proven to be intriguing, challenging and inspiring for many artists, and forever popular with art enthusiasts throughout the ages. I've always admired the masters of this challenging theme their varied and individualistic styled portrayals of females of their time, from realism style classical nude to modern and abstract figurative. I would describe my own work on this theme to be realistic, tasteful, romantic, and sometimes a little sensual, above all a celebration to the outer beauty of women of my own time. Birds...the natural beauty of birds will never fail to inspire me; I am fascinated with the intricate detail and delicacy of their feathers, and the colours and patterns seem sometimes too beautiful to be true. I intend to show many more in this theme. I've displayed a small selection here; the paintings were done in oils, acrylics or watercolours. Drawing and Sketches...feature in several categories, Drawing is very important to me, because I always aim to achieve detail and form in any image before I set out to paint; I often feel that some of my paintings are drawings that I colour after I’ve created them! Of course the only exception to this is in my abstract work, which is rarely controlled by what I originally sketch, I simply let my brush take control. Whichever of my themes appeals to you, I hope you enjoy your visit.... If you are an artist yourself, please send me a message with your web address, I'd love to see your work, maybe we can exchange links! Thanks, Hilary Eastment.
